STERILE filling specialist SCM Pharma is celebrating after picking up two separate business awards in the same month.
Managing Director, Dianne Sharp, won the Best Woman in International Business at the WIN North East Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Awards. This followed SCM Pharma being named as the winner of the Outstanding Growth Award at the prestigious Cels Business for Life Awards 2011 in November.
Both prizes recognise the development and contract manufacturing organisation’s (CDMO) impressive growth that has seen it almost double in size over the last 12 months, which has been driven by export growth.
The clinical trial manufacturer's impressive expansion has led to a huge surge in staff numbers and also the acquisition of a new facility at the University of Sunderland’s Science Complex as part of the company’s launch of its in-house formulation development service.
These achievements follow the company’s success last year at the Cels Awards where it won the Export Award, a category that SCM Pharma was also named as a finalist once again this year.
Dianne Sharp, managing director at SCM Pharma, said: "We are absolutely delighted to have won both awards especially given the tough competition we were up against in both categories.
"The achievements reflect the hard work, dedication and drive of every person in our business. My own award is in truth little to do with me but actually the outstanding team we have across all levels and functions within the business.
“As you'd expect from SCM Pharma, we will not be resting on our laurels and are already looking at building on this solid foundation."
