STERILE filling specialist SCM Pharma has been named as a finalist in two categories for the prestigious Cels Business for Life Awards 2011 following its continued growth.
The development and contract manufacturing organisation (CDMO) is in the running for the Export Award, sponsored by UK Trade & Investment and the Outstanding Growth Award, sponsored by Sinton's LLP.
After winning the Export Award in 2010, SCM Pharma has continued its impressive international expansion that has contributed to the business doubling in size in 2011.
This has led to a huge surge in staff numbers and also the acquisition of a new facility at the University of Sunderland’s Science Complex as part of the company’s launch of its in-house formulation development service to support its establish clinical trial manufacturing capability.
The news comes hot on the heels of the CDMO’s Managing Director, Dianne Sharp, being shortlisted for the WIN North East Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Awards under the category of Best Woman in International Business.
She said: “We are delighted to have been shortlisted for these awards as it recognises the commitment and dedication of all of our staff over the past year in driving the business in the right direction.
“Fingers crossed we can win one of the awards but just to be a finalist is a superb achievement and one that makes me very proud of the progress we have made,” added Dianne.
Northumberland-based SCM Pharma will learn its fate in the same week with the Cels awards taking place 9th November and the WIN awards 11th November.
